SPECIAL EVENT
Parkinson's UK & The National Garden Scheme Cycle Tour

Slade; Southerndown, Glamorgan
Two great charities have joined forces on the opening weekend of the Spring gardening season to raise awareness and promote health & well-being. To support this event, Bike Wales will be leading a one-day cycle tour visiting six unique gardens across the county of Glamorgan.

Event Overview:

The overall trip will involve cycling to each destination, meeting the garden owner(s), and taking a few group photos for promotional purposes. We will have approximately 30 minutes at each venue. Hopefully, we will have time for a quick tour of the gardens, as well as a bit of tea and cake. Then we're off to the next destination!
We have six individual garden locations to visit with a very tight schedule. The overall distance is just under 60 miles, with each section between locations ranging from 6 to 16 miles. The route itself is not terribly difficult and is mostly along quiet lanes; however, there are several stretches where traffic may be heavier.

[ You may select a particular section to view in detail. ]

Route Agenda:

The ride will begin at the Hengoed Train station and culminate at Bridgend Train Station for our return. We have six separate garden locations to visit with a very tight schedule. The overall distance is just over 60 miles, with each ride between locations ranging from 6 to 16 miles. The route itself is not terribly difficult and is mostly along quiet lanes; however, there are several stretches where traffic may be heavier.

Note: This ride is not recommended for children under the age of 16. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you desire to join us for only part of the journey, we will pass trains stations at several locations along the route (noted below). Everyone should bring plenty of snacks and drinks for this will be a full day ride of at least 10 hours. Also be prepared for rain; waterproofs are highly recommended - this is Wales, of course!
